Killing time

Word! For those of you that wondered (and even those who didn't), no I'm not dead and I wasn't hit by a truck while riding those silly hip Paris' cycles called "vélib". Thing is I really got caught into work, and maybe even more by seeing shows several times a week. Having a damn slow computer both at home and work didn't help that much either. I might take time to relate some of the shows I went to, like my good friend Stéphane from Rad Party did on his site (though I don't have a camera most of the time). Enough now for the fake apologies ("I won't say sorry for what I've done", well, actually what I haven't done, or wrote, the english classics lovers will get it), I'll most likely post more often from now on, having less shows to see, and less work to do.

I want to die in a war

Sadly, those days, musicians are leaving the building one after the other. To quote someone whose name I forgot (feel free to help out), "people aren't dying from car wrecks, O.D.'s or any other kind of abuses anymore, now they die from heart attacks or old age."

It was unfortunately the case 3 weeks ago for Sean Finnegan, ex VOID drummer.

The seminal Washington D.C. hardcore punk band had a bunch of demos out around 1981 ("Hit and run" and "Condensed flesh"), 2 tracks on the "Charred Remains" compilation tape, 3 numbers on the classic "Flex your head" comp. lp and a full side on their split lp with THE FAITH, both records being put out by Dischord records. If you're into spastic/hectic drumming check out songs "who are you?", the amazing "time to die", "organized sports", "war hero", "go south" and of course "my rules". Sharp, angry and in your face, along with their crazy live performances which made 'em one of D.C.'s favorites. I remember a friend telling me he once saw VOID's manic singer John Weiffenbach breaking his leg during the set after jumping too high. As many bands from that era, they then tried to follow a more "sabbathesque" path and the more metal oriented "Potion for bad dreams" lp supposed to come out on Touch & Go records, remained unreleased to this day.

For those who still doubt, proof to see!

Definition

It's finally one week after the initial launching of the blog that the 1st long time due post is coming up. After many hesitations, I've decided to make this one a brief presentation of what's to come. As the blog's title is an obvious tribute for many of you readers familiar with the punk scene, I wanted to enlarge this space to anything underground related, be it hardcore punk, metal, rock, whatever you want to call it music. The main link being dedication, passion, fury, rage, anger, frustration, but mainly heart and soul, no matter if it's sometimes clumsy, sloppy, out of tune or not tight. For those of you who then, will be attracted in this partly rough, most of the time true to itself world, I'll include links and addresses related in the near future. Now, as Ozzy once said: "ALL ABOARD!"
